Casper Gonser

Casper Gonser was a native of Germany, who came with his family to Minnesota and then to the Belt area in 1895. Here he met his wife Jennie Orr, whose family came from Scotland to Montana. They were married in Belt and lived here until 1916. All their children were born in Belt. Casper was associated with the A.C.M. for a time, then farmed in the Waltham country. Later they moved to Great Falls. Casper Gonser, Jr. was Great Falls park superintendent; Ruth (Mrs Howard Lease) was the dramatics consultant to the Junior Leagues of America; Arthur was on the faculty of the University of Denver; Earl was a section manager for J.C. Penney; and Thomas was the developmental consultant at the College of Great Falls. He later went to Northwestern University. The children established a Casper and Jennie Orr Gonser Memorial Book Fund at the College of Great Falls.
