  • Notes
    • Source for father's name: marriage record in OPR. Marriage record notes that John Paterson is "of" Hogscastle, i.e. the owner. Witnessed by John Lining, Surgeon in Edinburgh. Marriage record notes that they produced evidence of proclamation to kirk session.

In 1722 John Paterson the Elder and John Paterson the Younger acquired an instrument of sasine for Ogscastle. - From Ogscastle Deeds, National Library of Scotland. The Paterson's held the deed to Ogscastle until 1810 when the deed passed to Michael Lining. (source: Jeff Waugh)
