  • Notes
    • Joy was born in Crofton Park, London. She emigrated with her family when she was 4 years old on the Montnairn, arriving in Quebec on November 11, 1927.

Joy lived in Powell River, British Columbia until after her marriage to John Waugh, widower of her older sister, Winnie. Soon after their marriage, Joy and John moved to Boonville, Mendocino County, California. Joy contracted polio and died in the hospital in Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, California.

I remember dancing around the living room on pillows with Joy when we lived in Boonville. As I danced she would pull off my socks, which thoroughly delighted me. Jeff and I used to dance around the house singing the Joy dish liquid song when we heard it on the radio.
