    Dr. Charles Adam Patrick, c 1877. Photo courtesy Jan Laurie, great granddaughter of Charles Adam Patrick. His professional career spanned 46 years from a copper mine on Tharsis, Spain, to a ship's surgeon sailing to Australia in 1877. Thereafter he was employed by various shipping lines as a ship's surgeon / doctor. He sailed to Sydney as ship's surgeon in 1887 arriving 26th June. He opened a medical practice in Sydney in 1900 where he worked until his retirement in 1923.     Dr. Charles Adam Patrick married Margaret Weir in the St. Anne's Anglican Church, Sale, Cheshire, England in March of 1885.     • Graduated from University of Glasgow. Earned MC CM in 1877.
      Began career in Tharsis, ,Spain in copper mine. First child born there. Later worked as ship's surgeon.
      Immigration: arrived in Australia aboard Port Caroline on 11 May 1889. (Had already been in Australia, possibly immigrating in 1877)
      1930: on electoral roles in King, East Sydney, NSW, Australia. Retired doctor.

      The following biography is from the University of Glasgow:
      Charles Adam Patrick was born at Gartsherrie, Coatbridge on 3rd January 1854, the sixth of twelve children born to James Patrick and Catherine Adam. His early education was at Kilwinning School (where he was also a student teacher in 1871). Charles attended Glasgow University between 1872 and 1877 and graduated with MB CM in 1877.
      He worked as a Medical Practitioner in Kilwinning and Newcastle on Tyne, where he met his future wife, Margaret Weir. They married at St Anne's Anglican Church, Sale, Cheshire in March 1885. They had 3 children: Charles Alfred Weir born 1886 in Spain, Catherine Norah born 1887, and Ruby Claire in 1890, both born in Sydney, Australia.
