  • Notes
    • It isn't clear if eldest son, William, is actually the birth child of Elizabeth and Cornelius.. His name at birth may have been William Johnstone with mother Margaret Wightman. William's widow in Utah stated that her husband said his father was Cornelius Daley and mother Margaret Wightman. We have not yet been able to clear this up. For this reason I am not including William as a son of Cornelius Daley and Elizabeth Wilson.

1841 census: Hightae Village, Lochmaben. Living with husband, Cornelius Dally. Enumerated as Mary Wilson. Born in Dumfriesshire.

“andmuir” has Elizabeth WIlson’s birth 1781 in Canonbie, daughter of William Wilson and Helen Little. I have a DNA match that has a Little from Canonbie in the late 1700s. Another ancestry tree (Dunnet Family Tree) has her birth as August 15, 1787 in Smallholm, Lochmaben with parents Thomas Wilson and Jean Anderson. There is another birth in December 1787 to John Wilson and Jannet Wallace. We believe that “Mary” Wilson b Sept 28, 1785 in Hazelbrae (near Holmhead) is the correct OPR record based on Hazlebrae location. Her parents were John Wilson and Jean Richardson.
The following is from a rootschat.com forum post by brigau: from that the NAS catalogue http://www.nas.gov.uk/onlineCatalogue/ (searching for Richardson Lochmaben) has a record of James Richardson, Provost of Lochmaben & daughter, Jean, both deceased by 1795.  Jean Richardson was married to John Wilson, late of Hazelbrae and they had the following seven children: John, Mary, Catharine, Margaret, George, Robert and James.   After Jean's death Robert Richardson, merchant, Lochmaben, (likely a brother or uncle) was appointed factor loco tutoris
